Biography

Born in 1986 in Fariman, Amir Asadi spent his childhood in the city of Bakharz. Since his very childhood he became acquainted with the sound of southern Khorasan’s local instruments, including the Surna of Master Gholam-Ali Neynavaz, the Dotar of Master Hossein Samandari and the singing of Master Ebrahim Sharifzadeh. In 1996, he learned the basic theory of music and playing the Setar by Master Hamed Asadi, a string player and the maker of String Instruments(Tar and Setar). After graduating from high school, Asadi moved to Mashhad to continue his studies in electricity and continued learning to play Tar by Farid Irani. Since 2007, he started studying music composition by Hamed Nahavandi, a composer and pianist; later on, in 2018, they jointly published the first volume of the book series on Tar and Setar. Then Amir Asadi emigrated to Germany to continue his master’s degree in electricity, and meanwhile continued analyzing the form and harmony in classical and contemporary music with Master Faraz Khanafari, composer, pianist and Oud Player.
